Two Willowbrook alumnae make Villa Park Troop 199 history by earning Eagle Scout status

Two recent Willowbrook graduates from the class of 2026 – Lily Conboy and Teresa Farquhar – have earned Eagle Scout status, the highest rank attainable in Scouting America. They are the first female scouts in Villa Park Troop 199 history to earn this distinction.

Those who receive that rank earn at least 21 merit badges; demonstrate Scout Oath and Scout Law in their daily life; and plan, develop and give leadership to others in a service project. Read more about the Eagle Scout process at https://tinyurl.com/EagleScoutInfo.

Conboy and Farquhar were featured in the Villa Park Review for their tremendous accomplishment. To view the article, go to https://villaparkreview.com/stories/conboy-farquhar-make-history-in-villa-park-troop-199,7861

Lily Conboy

As part of her Eagle Scout journey, Conboy earned 32 merit badges and served in key leadership roles, including Senior Patrol Leader, Den Chief and Quartermaster, guiding younger scouts and helping lead troop activities. She also was elected by her fellow Troop 199 scouts to join the Order of the Arrow, Scouting America’s National Honor Society.

For her Eagle Scout project, Conboy planned and led a diaper drive and packaging project with The Outreach House in Lombard. She organized community donations; coordinated volunteers; and oversaw the collection, sorting and packaging of essential supplies for families in need. Through her leadership, more than 6,400 diapers were collected and distributed.

In the future, Conboy plans to attend Southern Illinois University in Carbondale and earn her bachelor’s degree in nursing.

Teresa Farquhar

Throughout her Scouting journey, Farquhar has demonstrated the values of responsibility, integrity and compassion, growing into a leader who consistently steps forward to support others and make a positive impact in her community.

For her Eagle Scout project, Farquhar designed and built accessible garden boxes at York Township for local seniors, and its impact also extended to a nearby food pantry. By creating raised garden beds, Farquhar provided seniors with the opportunity to grow their own fresh produce without physical strain, while also helping supply nutritious food to families in need. She led every aspect of the project – including planning and organizing volunteers, managing materials and problem-solving along the way.

Farquhar said her Scouting experience has shaped her growth in leadership, academics and athletics. She has applied the discipline and focus developed through Scouting to succeed in girls bowling and prepare for collegiate competition, while also helping to further develop the U.S. Army Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) program at Willowbrook.

In the future, Farquhar plans to attend College of DuPage and study criminal justice and fire science, to serve her community in law enforcement and public safety.
