Nine Willowbrook students qualify for Special Olympics Illinois Summer Games

On June 11, Willowbrook hosted a State send-off celebration for nine students who qualified to compete in the Special Olympics Illinois Summer Games.

The Summer Games took place from June 12 to 14 in Bloomington-Normal. For more information, go to www.soill.org/summer-games.

The Willowbrook student-athletes who qualified are:

  • Andrenae’ Anderson: Mini Javelin (State Qualifier)

  • Elijah Campbell: Standing Long Jump (earned 2nd place)

  • Liam Krichbaum: Softball Throw (earned 4th place)

  • Milagro Ramirez Lainez: 100-Meter Walk (earned 1st place – State Champion) and Softball Throw (earned 3rd place)

  • Juan Reyes: Mini Javelin (earned 2nd place)

  • Aidan Schwarz: 100-Meter Walk (earned a top-10 finish) and Tennis Ball Throw (earned 3rd place)

  • Ammaar Syed: Softball Throw (earned 5th place)

  • Kostandin Vasili: 200-Meter Run (earned 2nd place) and Running Long Jump (earned 4th place)

  • Amanda Vega: Standing Long Jump (earned 2nd place)
