On March 6, 10 Addison Trail students participated in a Poetry Slam at the school.
Students shared their original works in the first two rounds of competition and then competed in a lightning round, where they had five minutes to write a poem based on the provided topic of “stress.” Participants were junior Jammie Jefferson, junior Callie Weigelt, senior Jeremy Sechan, senior Dominic Zumpano, senior Lucio Delgado, junior Fiona Levesque, senior James Krause Jr., freshman Nikki Mancilla, senior Alan Sanchez and senior Alec Montgomery.
Participants were judged by English teacher aide Leslie Akacich, English teacher Claire Shoup, English Department Chair Amy Ferraro and Special Education teacher aide Marianne Perri.
Winners of the event are listed below. The top three finishers received gift certificates to local restaurants, and the champion was given a trophy as well.

3rd place: Junior Jammie Jefferson
4th place: Senior Alec Montgomery
5th place: Senior James Krause Jr.
