Throughout the school year, students in the Addison Trail Music Department participated in masterclasses from renowned professional musicians.

A range of topics were covered, including tone production, technique building, audition tips and advice regarding how to build a career in the music industry. Masterclasses were provided by:

  • Matthew Lee: Trumpet
  • Carlyn Lloyd: Flute
  • Greg Dudzienski: Saxophone
  • Josh Wirt: Low Brass
  • T.J. Thompson: Percussion
  • Ryan Caparella: Violin/Viola
  • Allison Chambers: Cello
  • Steven Katz: Double Bass
  • Kirk Garrison: Jazz

These experiences were funded through the Young People’s Music Initiative, a program supported by the JCS Fund of the DuPage Foundation. This is the seventh and final year Addison Trail is eligible for this grant, which has provided more than $50,000 that was used for masterclasses, guest conductors, composer visits, technology upgrades and buying instruments.
