District 88 remembers Addison Trail teacher aide

It is with great sadness District 88 shares the news that Addison Trail staff member Suzanne Flemming (pictured above) passed away suddenly on Oct. 9.

Flemming joined Addison Trail in 2015 and served as a substitute teacher, a teacher aide for credit recovery, a part-time teacher in credit recovery and a full-time teacher aide in the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Department. Before coming to Addison Trail, Flemming worked as a teacher aide and a substitute teacher at Addison School District 4. She will be remembered for going beyond traditional education and texting students in the morning to make sure they were on their way to class. She understood that the path to success is different for all students, and she was determined to reach each child and help him or her achieve his or her goals – whether that meant attending college or entering the workforce.

“Suzanne truly embodied what it means to be an Addison Trail Blazer,” said Jack Andrews, Addison Trail Principal. “The Flemming family has been part of District 88 for decades, as their children graduated from the school. Suzanne and her husband, Bob, were both employees of District 88, and Bob also is a former District 88 Board of Education member. Suzanne was a staple at Addison Trail events with Bob and always cheered for all Blazers. Her passion for public education and care for each student was evident and inspiring and has left a lasting positive impact on the school and the lives of countless children.”

Flemming was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and daughter and will forever be missed by family, friends and the Addison Trail community. Counseling services will be available for students and staff.
