ELA and Math Indicators

ISBE College and Career Readiness Core Requirements:

GPA: 2.8 or higher on a 4.0 scale

Attendance:  95% attendance junior and senior year (average of the two years must be 95% or higher)

Composite Score: ACT composite score of 30 or SAT composite score of 1400

Either: Earned a CCPE or all of the following:

Career area of interest identified by the end of sophomore year

At least one academic indicator per subject (ELA and Math)

Three or more career-ready indicators

ELA AP Course (Grade of A, B, or C)

  • AP English Language and Composition

  • AP English Literature and Composition

Dual Credit English Course (Grade of A, B, or C)

  • English 12 CC

  • English 12 DC 

  • Hidden Voices CC

Transitional English (Grade of A, B, or C)

  • Rhetoric of Contemporary Topics

Exam Score

  • Minimum ACT Subject Scores of English: 18 and Reading: 22

  • Minimum SAT Subject Score of Evidence-Based Reading and Writing: 540

  • AP Score of a 3 or higher

Math Indicator:

AP Course (Grade of A, B, or C)

  • AP Calculus AB, BC

  • AP Statistics

  • AP Computer Science A

Dual Credit Course (Grade of A, B, or C)

  • College Algebra CC

  • Calculus III CC

Transitional Course (Grade of A, B, or C)

  • Quantitative Literacy and Statistics

Algebra II (Grade of A, B or C)

Exam Score

  • Minimum ACT Subject Scores of 22 and a fourth year math course

  • Minimum SAT Subject Score of 540 and a fourth year math course

  • AP Score of a 3 or higher

Career Ready Indicators (3 or more):

  • Career development experience 

  • Career industry credential 

  • Military Service or an Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) score of 31 or higher

  • Dual credit career pathway course (college credit earned) 

  • Completion of program of study before graduation 

  • Attaining and maintaining consistent employment for minimum of 12 months

  • Consecutive summer employment

  • 25 hours of community service

  • Two or more organized co-curricular activities
