Eye on Education: High school students invited to participate in Congressional App Challenge

The Eye on Education section of the newsletter highlights an education-oriented article or topic. The goal is to provide an outside perspective and more information to continue to educate parents/guardians, students, staff members and community members to improve the educational learning environment of District 88.

This week’s topic is a Congressional App Challenge hosted by U.S. Congresswoman Delia C. Ramirez.

According to https://ramirez.house.gov/services/congressional-app-challenge, the challenge “is designed to engage student creativity and encourage their participation in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education fields. This nationwide event allows high school students from throughout the country to compete against their peers by creating and exhibiting their software application, or ‘app,’ for mobile, tablet, or computer devices on a platform of their choice.”

Students may compete as individuals or in teams of up to four people, and the deadline to apply is Oct. 28. Challenge winners will be invited to Capitol Hill, where they will demo their apps to their representatives.
