District 88 names Resilient’s UPSTART program as a Business Partner

During its Aug. 26 meeting, the District 88 Board of Education named Resilient’s UPSTART program as a Business Partner.

District 88 recognizes businesses and organizations for their support in building futures for students and helping to accomplish the district’s mission and vision. These collaborations are vital to ensure students are successful, and District 88 truly values and appreciates these partnerships.

UPSTART provides students with the tools they need to achieve success through offering support and empowerment. UPSTART is a pathway for students who might not pursue traditional college education, guiding them toward rewarding careers. This includes opportunities in apprenticeship programs within the construction trades and nonunion positions.

What sets UPSTART apart is the program’s holistic approach. Participants don’t just receive career training; the program also provides mentorship for students in character development, ensuring their growth expands beyond professional skills. This comprehensive approach also extends to the students’ families and the larger community, creating a strong, interconnected support system that reinforces success.

During the meeting, the board and administration thanked the following UPSTART representatives for all they do for District 88’s students, families and learning community.

  • Dagmar Porcelli: Executive Director of Resilient
  • Doug Nelson: UPSTART Board President
  • MaryLynn Leland: UPSTART Board Treasurer
  • Anna Rubicz: UPSTART staff member
  • Reggie Segers: UPSTART staff member
