District 88 Student Success Coordinator honored with Change Agent and Impact Education Award

District 88 is proud to share Student Success Coordinator VaLarie Humphrey was recently honored with the Change Agent and Impact Education Award by the DuPage County Branch of the NAACP. She was recognized during the 66^th annual Sydney Finley Scholarship and Freedom Fund Gala on April 6.

According to a press release, “This prestigious recognition is a testament to Humphrey's unwavering dedication and significant contributions to advancing educational equity and fostering positive change within the community. As an advocate for educational reform and social justice, Humphrey has demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to addressing systemic inequities in education. Through her innovative initiatives and tireless efforts, she has played a pivotal role in empowering students from diverse backgrounds to achieve academic excellence and pursue their dreams. Humphrey's impact extends beyond the classroom, as she continually works to dismantle barriers to educational access and opportunity. Her advocacy efforts have inspired meaningful policy changes and fostered a more inclusive learning environment for students of all backgrounds.”

Humphrey has more than 35 years of experience in education and travels the world as a motivational/transformational speaker. She was an educator in Chicago Public Schools and Bellwood School District 88, served as a Principal with Quad County Urban League, was an administrator with Indian Prairie School District 204 and is a professor at Aurora University, where she will earn her doctorate in Educational Leadership: Coaching and Mentoring this year. Humphrey earned her bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University and her master’s degree in General Administration from Benedictine University.
