On May 29, Willowbrook celebrated the end of the 2014-15 school year with its annual Senior Recognition Assembly.
During the assembly, seniors were honored for their achievements in a variety of areas. Awards and recognitions included athletic accomplishments, scholarships, department awards for Outstanding Seniors, Human Relations Awards, National Merit Scholars, PSAE Scholars, District 88’s Best, Illinois State Scholars, President's Award for Educational Achievement and more. Senior Brian King, who was diagnosed with a brain tumor at 5 years old, received the Warrior Award. The 2014-15 staff retirees were highlighted as well. They are Deborah DeGeorge, Tom Domin, Karen Feyereisen, Rachel Frese, Annette Whitaker and Richard Rentner, who also is this year’s Outstanding Achievement Award recipient.
The District 88 Foundation also presented mini-grants to staff members. That financial support is being implemented for staff to develop instructional opportunities such as music activities, technology and literacy and internet-based programs. The foundation is proud to give nearly $4,000 to Willowbrook this year. The recipients are:
