Addison Trail and Willowbrook students gain college credit and experience through Asynchronous College Algebra course in partnership with Elmhurst College

On Oct. 1, 31 Addison Trail and Willowbrook students who are enrolled in District 88’s Asynchronous College Algebra class visited Elmhurst College (pictured above).

Through the Asynchronous College Algebra course, participants are enrolled as Elmhurst College students. The staff at Addison Trail and Willowbrook collaborate with Elmhurst College faculty regarding assignments and grading, and students complete the class with the support of District 88 teachers. After successfully completing the course, participants receive college credit that can be transferred to other colleges and universities while serving as a placement mechanism, allowing students to directly enroll in subsequent college courses.

During the Oct. 1 field trip, students toured the campus and attended an admissions talk, a lecture and a meet-and-greet session with Elmhurst College Department of Mathematics Chair and Professor Evans Afenya, Ph.D., and Department of Mathematics Associate Professor Catherine Crawford, Ph.D.
