Willowbrook earns state-level recognition through INSPRA Distinguished Service Celebration

On May 10, Willowbrook was honored during the Illinois Chapter of the National School Public Relations Association (INSPRA) Distinguished Service Celebration.

That program recognizes individuals and groups throughout the state who partner with the school communications office and serve as ambassadors for public education and champions of students and staff. The event honors the impactful work of those school community members. To watch the presentation, click on the video above.

Members of Willowbrook’s Warrior Athletics Creative Media Production Team (pictured below) were celebrated for their efforts to increase support and communication from and with the school through keeping stakeholders informed about athletic successes, team highlights and news. The group consists of 25 students, who film games, provide play-by-play commentary, interview athletes, take photos, and create graphics and promos. The students are guided by Willowbrook Athletic Director Ed Sullivan, technology staff members Charlie Hoehn and Nick Beausoleil, Career and Technical Education (CTE) teacher Courtney Vala and staff member Rachel Karos.

Sullivan said these opportunities allow pupils to be directly involved with sports, even if they aren’t on the court or field. The experiences also can lead to scholarships and career pathways.

“The more unique content the kids create to communicate with the community, the more we’re able to connect everyone with the school and strengthen that bond through giving an inside look into our athletics program,” Sullivan said. “The Warrior Athletics Creative Media Production Team was made for and is run by the students, and it’s an opportunity for them to share and amplify their voice. Their work will be viewed for years to come, and they are building a legacy that will have a lasting impact on Willowbrook and the community.”
