Counseling Corner: Addison Trail Guidance Department shares important information about end-of-school-year events for the class of 2019

As the 2018-19 school year comes to a close at Addison Trail, the Guidance Department provides details about events for members of the class of 2019.

On May 6, guidance counselors met with seniors to review the following important information regarding the end of the school year and graduation.

Grades and Progress
Seniors were encouraged to finish the school year strong and to work hard to fulfill all graduation requirements.

Final Transcript
Students completed a final transcript request form and indicated to which college or institution they would like Addison Trail’s registrar, Licel Tornabene, to send their final transcript. Students were reminded their final transcript cannot be sent if they have any outstanding debt. Seniors were encouraged to return all books, pay all fees and check with the Bookstore, Library Media Center and English and Social Studies departments to ensure they don’t owe any money.

Senior Survey, Scholarship Recognition, Legacy Wall
Seniors completed a survey through Naviance. This survey allowed students to share their future plans, along with feedback about their experience with the post-secondary process. They also had the opportunity to report scholarships they’ve received and to share their post-secondary plans for Addison Trail’s Legacy Wall.

Caps and Gowns
Caps and gowns were distributed during lunch periods on May 1 and 8. Students who have not yet picked up their cap and gown will be able to do so on May 17 during Senior Sequence Day. Any seniors who have not yet ordered their cap and gown have been instructed to order them as soon as possible at www.getgradstuff.com.

Senior Sequence Day
On May 17, seniors are expected to attend first period through resource period (ATR). After ATR, seniors will meet in the auditorium. They will then take buses to The Empress Banquets in Addison for the Senior Breakfast. Students will then return to Addison Trail for graduation practice, where each graduate will receive four tickets for the commencement ceremony. Graduating students who don’t attend the Senior Breakfast must still meet at 1:30 p.m. in the auditorium for graduation practice.

Graduation
May 19 is graduation day. Graduation starts promptly at 3 p.m. in Addison Trail’s Main Gym. Graduating seniors must meet in the auditorium no later than 1:45 p.m. to prepare for the ceremony. A livestream of graduation also will be projected in the Field House and will be available online at www.dupage88.net/atgrad.

Addison Trail’s Guidance Department is proud of the class of 2019 and wishes seniors the best of luck with all their future endeavors. Parents/guardians, please reach out to your student’s counselor with any questions.
