District 88 hosts annual ‘Author in the House’ event

On April 12, District 88 hosted its annual “Author in the House” event at Addison Trail and Willowbrook.

This year’s featured author was Greg Allen, creator of “Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind.” That production provides audience members with a unique experience, as the cast performs 30 plays by The Neo-Futurists in 60 minutes. The audience chooses the order of those plays and interacts with the actors while the cast and crew transition from one show to the next. Earlier this month, Addison Trail students performed “Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind” as the school’s spring play, and they showcased a few of Allen’s works during the “Author in the House” event.

Allen discussed his creative process and encouraged students to be proud of their individuality and to express themselves through being an artist. He also led a Writer's Workshop for students and staff interested in the writing and publishing process.
