Counseling Corner: Addison Trail Guidance Department shares information about Technology Center of DuPage programs available to Addison Trail students

As members of the class of 2018 and the class of 2019 get ready to select courses for the 2017-18 school year, the Addison Trail Guidance Department would like to remind juniors and seniors about the opportunity to enroll in courses at Technology Center of DuPage (TCD) in Addison.

According to TCD’s website (www.tcdupage.org), “Offered in morning and afternoon sessions five days a week, each Technology Center program allows students to learn at their own pace through a hands-on, individualized learning plan based on goal achievement. Through their respective programs, students use field-specific mathematics, science reasoning, language arts and technology in real-world applications." Along with earning high school credit, TCD students may concurrently earn free college credit by enrolling at no cost with College of DuPage during the designated time frame.

There are more than 20 TCD programs available to Addison Trail students, and a list of classes can be viewed at https://www.dupage88.net/site/public/files/?item=3152. Spots are limited, so the programs are highly competitive. TCD will host its annual Community Open House from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 18. The Addison Trail Guidance Department encourages students who are interested in attending TCD to go to that event. An Addison Trail Guidance Counselor will be at the Open House to answer questions. Students who are interested in TCD programs also should speak with their counselor before the course selection process to determine which classes would be the best fit.
