Make a difference in the life of a student – join the Addison Mentor Program

The Addison Mentor Program is looking for community members and business professionals to serve as mentors for students at Addison Trail and at Indian Trail Junior High School in Addison School District 4.

The purpose of that program is to identify students “on the brink of success,” who will benefit from having a positive role model. Adults from the local business community are matched with students and meet for 30 minutes once a week.

This year will look a little different because of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Students need guidance and support more than ever as they face the challenges and adversity of this unprecedented situation, and there are two options to provide mentorship in a virtual environment.

  • Online meetings: Mentors can meet with their mentee(s) online through Zoom or Google Meets. A mandatory session will take place to provide mentors with training on how to use these platforms and to discuss expectations and policies in a virtual environment.

  • Online pen pal system: Mentors can write to their mentee(s), either through Google Forms or by e-mail (moderated by the schools). A mandatory session will take place to provide mentors with training and to discuss expectations and policies in a virtual environment.

Make a difference in the life of a student – become a mentor.
