District 88 Superintendent Student Advisory Committee wraps up another great school year

Throughout the school year, I have continued to meet with 19 students from Addison Trail and Willowbrook, who comprise the Student Advisory Committee (pictured above).

From September to May, we came together five times to gather their feedback and input regarding issues of importance to the students, schools, district and communities. Topics included updating District 88’s final exam policies, ways to enhance our clubs/activities and increase involvement, restroom use, coordinating lesson plans with substitute teachers, implementing digital student IDs and areas of improvement for technology and district grading policies.

The goal of the committee is to provide students with a seat at our administrative table and an opportunity to have their voices heard to help shape the future direction of the district. At District 88, one of our top priorities is to connect with all students to develop in them a sense of belonging. I’m committed to being accessible, inclusive, collaborative and transparent, and the Student Advisory Committee is one initiative to help meet that goal.

I would like to thank the students below for their time, passion, collaboration and ideas as we worked together to accomplish our mission of working for the continuous improvement of student achievement. I look forward to continuing this group next year.
