District 88 Transition Program’s Perks & Possibilities Café hosts end-of-year celebration

On May 10, the District 88 Transition Program and the Addison Public Library hosted a Meet and Greet event for the Perks & Possibilities Café.

The café is located inside the library and is run by students in the District 88 Transition Program (with the guidance of staff), which helps individuals ages 18 to 21 who have a variety of abilities learn life skills, obtain job training at local vocational sites in a community setting and transition to a life of independence after District 88. Perks & Possibilities Café opened in March 2010 as a result of collaboration and generosity provided by local intergovernmental agencies, businesses and donors.

The Meet and Greet was an end-of-year celebration to recognize an awesome year of learning through service. Members of the Transition Program, the library, District 88 and library-goers attended the event.
