The Brook Catering Co. at Willowbrook provides students with real-world culinary experience

On Jan. 26, The Brook Catering Co. (which is comprised of Willowbrook culinary students) hosted a Taste of Europe Luncheon for staff members.

The event took place in the school’s new Willows Dining Room and featured Swedish meatball pasta in a meat and vegetarian version, Greek bruschetta, chocolate or vanilla macarons, lemonade, iced tea, tea and coffee.

Through The Brook Catering Co., students enrolled in Culinary Arts 3 – Catering learn about event planning, scaling recipes, ordering groceries, figuring costs in a lab setting and working with clients to determine themes and menus. The course prepares students for careers in the food service industry, catering and nutrition/menu planning. Students in this program earn dual credit, have an honors option and are certified ServSafe safety and sanitation managers.
