Willowbrook inducts Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2023

Each year, Willowbrook recognizes and celebrates the athletic and personal successes of standout Willowbrook student-athletes through the school’s annual Athletic Hall of Fame. This distinguished event was founded in 2010 and is a way to honor the alumni who have helped create and continue the legacy of Pride, Tradition and Excellence that is Willowbrook High School.
On Jan. 26, Willowbrook inducted members into its Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2023 during a dinner at The Carlisle in Lombard. Willowbrook Principal Dr. Daniel Krause, Willowbrook Athletic Director Brandon Murphy and Willowbrook Athletic Hall of Fame President Helen Connell greeted the crowd. Emcees for the evening were Ed Sullivan (Willowbrook math teacher and Co-Curricular Coordinator) and Bryan Murphy Sr. (former Willowbrook teacher, dean and coach). Bruce Kelsay, former District 88 School Psychologist and 2015 Willowbrook Athletic Hall of Fame inductee, gave the Address to the Class of 2023.

Class of 2023 inductees are:
- Brett Buchanan (Class of 2010 – Swimming, Baseball)
- Mike Kligis (Class of 1977 – Football, Basketball, Baseball)
- Kelly McNamara (Class of 2015 – Swimming)
- Dan Rowland (Class of 2013 – Wrestling)
- Vic Wisner (Class of 1985 – Football, Basketball, Baseball, Football Coach, Baseball Coach)
- 1975 Football Team
- Herman Acosta (Outstanding Contributor – Athletic Booster Club President)
- Andy Piermattei (Outstanding Contributor – Athletic Booster Club President)
Inductees also were recognized before the Willowbrook Varsity Boys Basketball game on Jan. 27.
