Addison Trail students visit Elmhurst University

On Nov. 9, 26 Addison Trail students who are enrolled in English teacher Michael Valeski’s Hidden Voices class and English teacher Jessica Clark’s Communication Studies (Mass Media) class visited Elmhurst University (pictured above).

Those classes are dual-credit courses, which means students have the opportunity to earn college credit with Elmhurst University. During the field trip, participants toured the campus, attended a freshmen seminar class and received information about tuition.

Through Hidden Voices, students study multiple perspectives from a variety of authors, characters and stories to continue to broaden their own experiences as readers and writers. Students read/watch essays, poetry, novels, short stories, film, etc. that encompass a wide range of voices and explore how these voices have shaped and continue to shape the country and world narrative.

Through Communication Studies (Mass Media), students explore communication skills in a variety of mediums. They then create a portfolio in their preferred area(s) (podcasting, radio, newspaper writing, journalism, broadcasting, production, digital media, etc.), in coordination with Elmhurst University professors.
