Counseling Corner: Addison Trail Guidance Department to host FAFSA completion event

The Addison Trail Guidance Department is committed to assisting students and families with post-secondary-education planning.

As part of that focus, the department will host an event on Oct. 13 to help individuals complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). That event will begin at 6 p.m. in the commons area at Addison Trail, and FAFSA experts will be available to answer questions.

It is highly recommended students and parents create an FSA ID before the event. For details on this process, go to https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/create-account/launch.

The FAFSA can be accessed at https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa. To watch a presentation that reviews the form line by line, go to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FuU-z3lyopE.

As a reminder, completing the FAFSA is a graduation requirement for Illinois students. Seniors who choose not to complete the FAFSA must fill out the waiver at https://www.isbe.net/Documents/FAFSA-Non-Participation-Form.pdf and return it to their counselor.
