If you stopped by Willowbrook on Sept. 27, you might have noticed the field house was filled with cardiac screening machines, doctors, nurses and volunteers.

We were thrilled to again participate in the Young Hearts for Life® (YH4L) Cardiac Screening Program on that day. Our No. 1 priority at District 88 is the safety and well-being of our students, and this event allowed us to provide them with free electrocardiograms to identify individuals at risk for heart conditions that can cause sudden cardiac death (SCD).

We’re incredibly thankful to Young Hearts for Life for offering us this opportunity to help ensure our students’ health. It was a tremendous day – and we couldn’t have done it alone! We screened 524 students thanks to:

  • Our staff members who helped organize students and get the building ready

  • The staff and volunteers at Young Hearts for Life

  • Community volunteers, who attended a training session and assisted us for 4 to 9 hours on the day of the event

  • And of course Edward-Elmhurst Health, who sponsored the program

We know this event made a positive difference in the lives of our students, and we truly appreciate everyone who made these screenings possible. For more information about Young Hearts for Life, go to www.YH4L.org. Thank you for your continued support of Willowbrook!
