On Sept. 1, Willowbrook students and parents/guardians attended the school’s annual Open House. To view the school’s Open House webpage, go to https://sites.google.com/dupage88.net/wbhsopenhouse2022.

Participants were able to meet administrators and staff members and learn about Willowbrook’s curriculum as they followed an abbreviated version of their child’s daily schedule. Principal Dr. Daniel Krause welcomed the group and shared successes of Willowbrook, as well as important information for the school year.

About NEED NUMBER students were represented by a parent/guardian in attendance.

Before the Open House programming, Willowbrook Literacy Department Head Kathy Lipowski hosted an English Learner Family Welcome Dinner. All English Learner students and their families were invited to attend this event for an opportunity to socialize with staff members and other families and to build community. District 88 has about 40 languages and more than 30 countries represented among its families, and more than one-third of the nearly 2,000 students at Willowbrook speak more than one language. District 88’s core values include fostering an inclusive environment and a sense of belonging, where all students, staff and community members feel safe, valued, respected and welcome – regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation or gender identity.

The District 88 Transition Program also hosted an Open House for parents/guardians. That program helps individuals ages 18 to 21 who have a variety of abilities learn life skills, obtain job training in a community setting and transition to life after District 88. Transition welcomes 46 students this year, including College of DuPage Connections.
