Member of the Addison Trail class of 2022 named as HEAR Scholar

On May 19, Addison Trail alumnus Joel Olvera Lopez (class of 2022) was honored with the HEAR Scholarship.

According to https://www.hearfoundation.org/scholarship, “HEAR provides financial assistance (a $20,000 tuition scholarship) and a college success program to low-income Chicagoland high school seniors, who demonstrate academic excellence, commitment to community and personal integrity.”

To be selected as a HEAR Scholar, candidates must complete an application, fulfill the program’s minimum academic requirements, submit a letter of recommendation and participate in an interview.

Olvera Lopez emigrated from Mexico and came to Addison Trail as a sophomore. He was enrolled in English Learner (EL) courses at the school. Olvera Lopez has not only exited the EL program, but he also completed two Advanced Placement (AP)/college-level courses this year. He plans to attend Elmhurst University and major in nursing.
