Relay For Life of District 88 Youth raises $43,463 for American Cancer Society

Willowbrook and Addison Trail recently showed giving back is a cornerstone of District 88 pride.

On March 14, the 11th annual Relay For Life of District 88 Youth event took place at Willowbrook, and more than 350 students and community members attended the relay. This year’s event raised $43,463 for the American Cancer Society. In total, this event has collected more than $700,000 during the last 11 years.

Participants enjoyed a variety of activities and games, and there also was a luminaria to honor more than 100 individuals who are fighting cancer or who have lost their battle with cancer. The relay began by celebrating more than 12 survivors, as they walked the first lap around the track.

The top three teams with fundraising are:

  1. Rais2e for a Cur3: $11, 642

  2. It's Po22ible: $10,182

  3. BLAZERS 2022: $6,182

Tad Tchop, a student in the District 88 Transition Program, continues to raise funds for the event. This year, he raised $3,553.80.
