You’re invited to attend a day filled with celebrating Latin culture at Addison Trail

Addison Trail invites students, parents/guardians, staff, community members and friends of the school to attend a day filled with music, food, entertainment and activities to celebrate the Latin culture!

On May 14, Addison Trail will host its annual Kermes (Latin Food Festival) – and this year, the event will feature a Job Expo, a Community Resource Fair and a performance by Mariachi Herencia de México.

What: Kermes (Latin Food Festival)
This event will feature traditional Latino dishes, live entertainment, raffles and family-friendly activities. Kermes is coordinated by Addison Trail’s Interact Club and Padres Latinos en Acción.

When: 4 to 7 p.m. on May 14

Where: Addison Trail, 213 N. Lombard Road in Addison (in the cafeteria)

Cost: Admission to the event is free. Food and refreshment tickets will be sold at the cafeteria entrance.


What: Job Expo
Participants will have the opportunity to meet face to face with local employers and submit their résumé. The expo is an initiative of the Addison Workforce Development Committee, which is comprised of the Village of Addison and local businesses and organizations (including District 88). The committee’s goal is to discover the needs of employers and train local students and adults to meet those needs, and the Job Expo is one way to achieve that goal.

What: Community Resource Fair

Participants are welcome to enjoy a Community Resource Fair that will share information about services/programs in the areas of education, health/well-being, early childhood, financial support and more. What: A performance by Mariachi Herencia de México

Mariachi is widely considered the quintessential Mexican folk-derived musical ensemble and has become an institution symbolic of Mexican music and culture. Mariachi Herencia de México is a Latin GRAMMY-nominated group of young Mexican-American musicians, who have released four highly acclaimed studio albums, with chart-topping debuts on the Billboard and the iTunes Latin Albums charts. The group is comprised of teenagers from Chicago, mostly between 14 and 18 years old. For more information about the group, go to https://www.mariachiherenciademexico.com.
