Counseling Corner: Addison Trail Guidance Department shares important information regarding course selection for the 2022-23 school year

The time has arrived for students to select courses for the 2022-23 school year.

This year, pupils will select their classes online through PowerSchool. They will learn how to complete preliminary course selections during their resource period and will then have individual meetings with their counselor to finalize their selections. During those meetings, teacher recommendations, post-high school plans, previous courses and grades and interests/motivation also will be discussed.

We encourage parents/guardians to be part of the course-selection process with their child. Course descriptions can be viewed at https://www.dupage88.net/site/page/19, and course selections can be reviewed in PowerSchool through the following times/dates.

  • Sophomores: Access available through 7 a.m. on Jan. 10

  • Juniors: Access available through 7 a.m. on Jan. 24

  • Freshmen: Access available through 7 a.m. on Feb. 7

* Students will have until Feb. 28 to make changes to course selections. All course selections will be considered final at that time.

Important reminders:

  • Students need to be enrolled in at least six periods, plus a lunch.

  • Schedules are computer generated, and we are unable to confirm a specific schedule.

  • Course selections will be considered final on Feb. 28.

If you would like to meet with your child’s counselor, contact him or her directly at https://dupage88.libguides.com/Guidance. Counselors also will be available during the Guidance Department Open House from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on Feb. 24.

  • This is a semimonthly column that features news from the Guidance Department. The column will alternate between Addison Trail and Willowbrook.
