District 88 shares important information regarding weather-related school closings

The No. 1 priority at District 88 is the safety and well-being of students and staff.

As part of that commitment, we will continue to make decisions regarding weather-related school closings and schedule adjustments in the best interest of our pupils and employees. To view the guidance documents District 88 uses to aid in these decisions, as well as the district's plans/procedures during inclement weather, see the links below.

In compliance with the Illinois School Code, District 88 is allotted five emergency days for each school year. In the event it is necessary to use an emergency day, families will be notified as soon as possible through an automated message. School closings also will be announced on our website at www.dupage88.net and through our social media outlets below.

It is at the district’s discretion whether to implement an e-learning day, when appropriate. During an e-learning day, students will attend their classes synchronously via Zoom. Expectations for e-learning days can be viewed HERE. In preparation for this possibility, students should bring home their Chromebook every day. Student and staff safety, as well as the ability to access e-learning, will be factors that drive the decision to implement an e-learning day. If severe weather is forecasted, we encourage parents/guardians to arrange for child care the night before to be prepared for a possible school closure.
