District 88 celebrates and recognizes Illinois Bus Driver Appreciation Day

On Oct. 22, District 88 celebrated Illinois Bus Driver Appreciation Day.

To recognize the event, Addison Trail, Willowbrook and District Office students and staff welcomed the bus drivers and cheered as they arrived; students created cards and posters with words of appreciation; marquees displayed messages of thanks; and breakfast was provided for the drivers.

Transportation has always been an essential aspect of education, and that was never more apparent than last year, when schools had to transition to virtual learning because of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. These individuals delivered meals, homework, computers, school supplies, Wi-Fi hotspots and more, all in addition to providing normal services when school doors were open. School bus drivers made remote learning possible, and they help District 88 accomplish its mission of working for the continuous improvement of student achievement and assist in building successful futures for all students.
