Addison Trail senior Fawzan Ali has been named as a Finalist in the 66th annual National Merit Scholarship Program.

According to the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), Ali now has the opportunity to earn National Merit Scholarship awards. To become a Finalist, Ali had to submit a detailed application that provided information about his academic record, participation in school and community activities, demonstrated leadership abilities, employment and honors and awards received.

According to the NMSC, more than 1.5 million juniors in about 21,000 high schools entered the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2019 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®), which served as an initial screen of program entrants. More than 15,000 students have been named as Finalists, and the NMSC will begin notifying scholarship winners in March.
