On Sept. 13 and 15, more than 60 Addison Trail and Willowbrook students who are enrolled in Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses at the schools attended the Smartforce Student Summit during the International Manufacturing Technology Show at McCormick Place in Chicago.

Participants had the opportunity to experience interactive and engaging exhibits from leading manufacturers demonstrating breakthrough technologies such as artificial intelligence, augmented reality, virtual reality, generative design, digital twin and more. They explored the latest Industry 4.0 digital technologies driving manufacturing today and also were able to connect directly with job opportunities in manufacturing technology.

District 88 is committed to providing multiple and flexible pathways for students to ensure they are college and career ready, and the district continues to partner with colleges/universities and local businesses to expand these opportunities for students. Having pupils attend the Smartforce Student Summit is one way to achieve this goal.

District 88 invites companies to collaborate with the district and support students through the following venues:

  1. Offer a career and college integrated pathway

  2. Offer exploratory career experiences in manufacturing and information technology

  3. Become a vocational site for the District 88 Transition Program, which helps individuals ages 18 to 21 who have a variety of abilities learn life skills, obtain job training in a community setting and transition to a life of independence after District 88

  4. Serve as a mentor for students

  5. Advertise on a 36” x 60” printed banner
