District 88 invites students with disabilities to post-high school planning night

At District 88, providing opportunities and supports for all students to succeed inside the classroom and beyond is a top priority. As part of that focus, District 88 invites Addison Trail and Willowbrook students who have IEPs and 504 plans and their parents/guardians to attend the West Suburban Options Fair Consortium’s 4th Annual Options Fair.

That event will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 21 at Lyons Township High School South Campus, 4900 S. Willow Springs Road in Western Springs.

The Options Fair is for high school and transition-age students with all levels of special needs and their families. The goal is to connect students and their families with resources that are essential for their future. The fair was established to offer students with special needs an opportunity to meet with colleges and universities, as well as agencies that can provide services after high school. The program is free to the public, and no pre-registration is required.

Nearly 40 colleges and universities will attend, along with nearly 40 other agencies focused on options after high school. The fair is divided into three clusters:

  • College degree programs, with information regarding admissions and accommodations.

  • College experience programs for those interested in continuing their education formally after high school, with a focus of developing vocational, social, independent living and academic skills for employment and beyond.

  • Adult agencies/services that will provide insight about accessing state funding and services, obtaining government benefits, guardianship, long-term financial planning, day programs and more.
