These programs include special education courses, English as a Second Language (ESL) and bilingual programs, and alternative educational programming.
Extra-curricular Clubs and Activities
Student involvement in extra-curricular activities continues to grow each year in athletics as well as clubs that focus on special interest, leadership and service. Engaging students in these activities creates personalized connections with the high school and opportunities for academic and social growth.
Parent Involvement
District 88 regards parent involvement as a high priority. During the year, the schools host Open Houses, Parent/Teacher Conferences and informational nights to keep parents involved in the school community. Parent participation levels have increased with access to student grades through PowerSchool, expanded programming from the Guidance Department, parent organizations and outreach efforts such as African-American and Hispanic parent initiatives.
Building The Future
In April 2007, the nine communities in District 88 voted to fund a $104.7 million referendum to modernize the infrastructure and the learning environment of both high schools. With completion expected in Fall 2010, "Building The Future" will represent the most significant renovations in the last 30 years. For an update on the construction project, please click here.
